🟡 Beat the heat in Gaston County

Plus... The Holland brings new flavor to Downtown Mount Holly, Eastridge Mall hosts classic carnival fun, and Stowe Conservancy celebrates nature with its Butterfly Festival!

Hello, Gaston! It’s Thursday, you know what that means.

Today marks the unofficial first day of summer in Gaston County! At least if you ask the kids (and their teachers), who just wrapped up their last day of school yesterday.

There’s nothing quite like that feeling—knowing you’ve got two and a half months ahead with hardly a care in the world. Okay, maybe not nothing expected of them… but we all know there won’t be any homework.

And while the season’s just getting started, the heat and humidity aren’t far behind. Kind of a package deal, right?

That’s why I wanted to share this great list that Gaston County Tourism Development put together last year. It’s full of splash pads, pools, beaches, and other great places to cool off close to home.

So, to all the kids out there—soak up the summer. Enjoy those lazy, hazy, crazy days while you can. They don’t last forever—just ask your parents.

Thanks for reading!
