The Burger Battle We Almost Had

April Fools got me. Not right away. I had my guard up early and spotted most of the pranks. But by mid-afternoon, I slipped.

Kirk Brown from Cramerton posted it on Facebook that morning, but it didn’t hit my feed until later. “IN-N-OUT is coming to Gastonia!!!” It even had three photos to go along with it. And let’s be honest, pictures make it feel real.

And it made sense. That old Chick-fil-A at Franklin Center has been sitting empty. Another fast food spot moving in? Sure. Why not In-N-Out?

For a minute, I was all in. Because people love burgers. And on that stretch of road, we’ve already got quite a lineup. There’s Whataburger, Bubba’s,  Cook Out, Five Guys and a few others I’m probably missing. Throw In-N-Out into the mix and suddenly you’ve got something.

The Franklin Boulevard Burger Battle.

Not exactly groundbreaking. Other places have their food scenes. But this? This would be ours. A stretch of road where you could cruise, argue, debate, and maybe even settle it once and for all.

April Fools can be silly. Sometimes it’s over the top. Sometimes it actually gets you. But every now and then, it plants an idea that we can all agree on.

And now I can’t stop thinking about it.

So…why not the Franklin Boulevard Burger Battle?

Shoutout to Tony Mecia of The Charlotte Ledger for the mention last week. And to everyone who found us because of it, welcome aboard. Glad you’re here.
