Lost and Found and Lost Again
There is a song by Kevn Kinney, lead singer of the band Drivin N’ Cryin, called “Lost and Found”.
The chorus goes, “Lost and found and lost again.”
I thought I knew what that meant once. Then I had kids. Now I know exactly what he meant. He was singing about my Roku remote.
I’ve lost and found and lost my Roku remote three times this week and it’s only Thursday.
The last time I saw it was right before bed. Finn, my two year old, was carrying it around like it was a prized possession. Where it is now is anyone’s guess.
It could be with his toys. It could be with the dog’s toys. It could be in the dirty clothes hampers. It could be in the trash.
There’s a pretty good chance I’ll be digging through the roll out trash can later tonight if it doesn’t turn up.
I feel like I spend a good portion of my waking hours looking for our TV remote. It doesn’t help that it’s black and blends in perfectly with our dark couch and recliners.
It’s also thin, making it the perfect size to slide down into the cracks and crevices of the furniture like it’s disappearing on purpose.
At this point I’m starting to wonder if the Roku remote even belongs to us anymore.
Maybe it just visits.
Come home soon, little guy. We miss you.
